Between storms
DogMan's LinksBetween stormsBig peaks breaking raw. Round hoouse turn.
The last weekend in January; once again there are waves in Santa Cruz. The storms of the last ten days have run their course, and the weather is perfect for surfing. The ocean is still sick from all the ill winds, but conditions are clean enough in DogLand to coax the rubber-suited denizens into paddling for a few waves
Got you covered. Got you uncovered. DogLand
You had to dodge the mackers, fight the chop, line up exactly so, and have a bit of luck. When it all came together the waves were overhead and cranking. In town the situation was cleaner and more orderly; in DogLand clean and orderly weren't part of the picture. Currents, tides, kelp and confused swell were evident, but not enough to preclude some stoke.
Pierced lip Ocean full of energy. Falling swell
Forecast is for falling swell Monday, followed by more stormy weather for the middle of the week. But for the weekend, you couldn't ask for more. Waves for surfing, a big full moon, and time to play in the ocean. How's that for a great weekend?
Long view of a long wave.
